Assignment Pentagon: How to Excel in a Bureacracy
Published in Paperback by Brasseys, Inc. (12 November, 2001)
Author: Perry M. Smith
Average review score:

up to date guide to thriving within a large organization
I am the author of this book. When the new administration took office, it was time to update this book about how the Pentagon works, how to work with the Pentagon and how to work within the Pentagon. There is an enormous amount of misinformation about the Pentagon and what I have tried to do is stick to the realities and to destroy some of the myths. I have received many comments about this book. The most surprising ones have come from people who work in corporations who have told me that this book has given them lots of ideas about how improve their performance in their present jobs.

Be Nice In 60 Languages
Published in Spiral-bound by Wm. Perry (01 December, 1999)
Author: Wm. Perry
Average review score:

The World's 1st Book In 60 Languages
"Be Nice In 60 Languages" was written by someone I know: my Dad. Like him, I think his book is really cool.

I'm in grade 10, in Toronto, the world's most multilingual city. Here, most people don't speak English at home.

I took the book to school for show and tell. My friends loved it. They all wanted copies. I've made lots of new friends, people I didn't know started asking for copies. Suddenly I was cool at school.

It is fun to learn a few words in a foreign language. It really impresses everyone, especially the girls.

It's awesome how students who never spoke to each other are socializing. The Chinese, the Indians, the English, the Africans and the other cultural groups, they used to hang out separately. Now, everyone is talking to each other. I've met so many new friends from other cultures and I've learned so much. It is un...believable. I think this book should be given to everyone in highschool, like a textbook.

I would recommend this book to any student going to school with foreign speaking students. And, it is a great gift. Canada's national newspaper "The National Post" calls it "the perfect stocking stuffer". It has been nominated for the Guiness Book of World Records - as the first book written in 60 languages. I think my Dad should get the Noble Peace Prize.

Belle Moskowitz: Feminine Politics and the Exercise of Power in the Age of Alfred E. Smith
Published in Paperback by Routledge (March, 1992)
Author: Elisabeth Israels Perry
Average review score:

A very well crafted political and feminist biography.
In Belle Moskowitz: Feminine Politics And The Exercise Of Power In The Age Of Alfred E. Smith, Elisabeth Perry presents an impressive work of biographical scholarship on the woman who was four-term Democratic governor of New York and unsuccessful presidential candidate, Alfred E. Smith's closet political advisor. Bell Moskowitz (1877-1933) was the most powerful woman in Democratic party politics during the 1920s and served as Smith's strategist, public relations director, and campaign manager. She was also a major force in shaping the social welfare programs for which his gubernatorial administration is best remembered for today. A well-crafted feminist biography, Belle Moskowitz showcases a pioneering female activist who achieved unprecedented influence in American politics, only to fall into an undeserved obscurity. Belle Moskowitz redresses that historical oversight and is a very highly recommended contribution to women's studies, American political history, and feminist biography collections.

Biochemistry
Published in Hardcover by Jones & Bartlett Pub (March, 1992)
Authors: Robert H. Abeles, Perry A. Frey, William P. Jencks, and William P. Jenks
Average review score:

Excellent Resource for Chemists
Abeles, Frey, and Jenks use a very mechanistic approach to biochemistry. Whereas most traditional texts use a survey style approach to biochemistry, this text uses chemical concepts to teach the reader ways to approach a wide range of problem in chemical biology and ways to reduce problems down to molecular interactions. This is a great resource for chemists branching out into biology, but very different from texts used in biological disciplines.

Blaze Starr
Published in Paperback by Pocket Books (December, 1989)

Blaze Starr's biography that the movie Blaze was based on
Huey depicts Blaze's life up to the late 60's, a small townWest Virginia gal, one of ten children born in Twelevepole WestVirginia, who became a fairly famous burlesque stripper. It comes with pictures in the middle of some of Blaze's stage acts. Good book if you like biographies. It depicts her rise to stardom and her relationship with Earl Long, who was the governor of Louisiana during the time they were involved with each other.
